Use IM Receive And Send Tweets

TweetSwitch is a third part of service of Twitter, it developed a service that lets you use Instant Messenger to receive and send tweets. Now, it supports Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, gTalk, AIM, etc. You do not have to register, just use your Twitter ID to sign in. I use gTalk. Click "Add" button, type gTalk ID. Click "Create", you will see gTalk ID in first window. If you like you can add multiple IDs.

Next step, turn on your Instant Messenger, accept a TweetSwitch robot and add it in your friend list. Then, you can use Instant Messenger to receive and send tweets. But you have to know how to use commands. Check some basic knowledge below.

  • Send a tweet:

  • Type tweet MESSAGE or t MESSAGE.
e.g. tweet How to you think about Google will quit China = How to you think about Google will quit China (appears on Twitter)

  • Send direct message (DM):

  • Type dm NAME MESSAGE or d NAME MESSAGE.
e.g. dm syber How to you think about Google will quit China = How to you think about Google will quit China (appears on Twitter)

  • List the last 20 tweets received:

  • Type list or l.

  • Pause the service:

  • Type pause

  • Resume the service:

  • Type start

If you are not online, it will store tweets in second window. Third window just for in case other two windows could not through tweets. TweetSwitch is a free service, if your local ISP blocked Twitter it can be bypass censorship.
